How to live in a small space

Get clever with storage solutions if you live in a small space.

If you have a lot of belongings that you cannot bear to part with but space is limited, then it may be time to get imaginative. There are plenty of products on the market specifically to cater for limited space in the home. It can be as simple as fitting a coat hook to free up space in your wardrobe or fitting an extra shelf in the cupboard to make any use of dead space. We have selected a few options for you to consider rather than a declutter.

1. Utilise the space beneath your bed.

If you have a bed that is not low lying then use this space to store suitcases or some drawers if you do not have a chest of drawers. Some beds come with built in storage which makes it even easier.

2. Line up your shoes.

Invest in a shoe rack to keep in top of your mountain of shoes. There are a variety of options available on the market to suit the space you have to save you having to climb over them as you leave the house.

3. Make the most of unused space in your bathroom.

Most bathrooms don’t come with space to hang your towel or a home for your toiletries. Use the space beneath your sink for some storage racks and affix shelves in any space that you have. A cabinet above your sink that has a mirrored front also makes the most of your space.

4. Invest in some shelves.

Where there is a wall, there is space for shelves. They provide a practical way to store items and can also become a feature too if you arrange them in a certain fashion. Go one step further and group books together in the same colour of their spine to make a real impact to the look of a bookshelf. Put them in the kitchen, in the hallway or even consider a bed with a wide bedhead for your to place your books and alarm clock on.
